    Children’s programs at OPL Centennial Branch

    TD Summer Reading Club (happening at all of OPL):

    OPL has an exciting lineup of programs! Children aged 4 to 12 are invited to discover the wonders of water through fun, water-themed library activities. With experts in the field, children explore the fascinating world of seas, oceans & marine creatures through stories & tales as well as crafts, STEM activities, & games from June 29 to August 22.     Splish Splash

    Dive into hands-on crafting fun! Make art inspired by water, waves, & the sea while discovering your artsy side! Create cool ocean effects with watercolour painting.

    Enjoy some popcorn and a free showing of the movie Adrift, directed by Baltasar Kormákur. Based on the true story of survival, a young couple’s chance encounter leads them first to love, and then on the adventure of a lifetime as they face one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history.

    Poetry and Memory with Amanda West Lewis

    In this hands-on, collaborative workshop, we’ll start with the writing prompt: “What is your earliest memory?” and create a series of group poems that are both specific & personal. We’ll also look at examples of how this same memory prompt inspired the verse novel “These Are Not the Words.” The workshop explores ways that our memories and dreams can spark ideas and springboard us into larger writing projects.
