    CBLCA

Note from the President — June 2026

June was a full and lively month here in Crystal Beach–Lakeview, and I want to extend a heartfelt thank‑you to everyone who helped make it such a strong finish to our spring season.

Our Community Garage Sale once again brought neighbours out onto their driveways, porches, and lawns — a simple tradition that continues to show how connected and resourceful our community is.

Additionally, Wheel Day returned – this time in Maki Park, and what a day it was! From the bike rodeo to, R/C car driving and temporary tattoos, and pizza it was a reminder of how much we can accomplish when volunteers step forward. Events like this don’t happen on their own — they happen because people care.

I want to give special thanks to the many hands that made Wheel Day possible including the 116th Nepean Scout Troop for their enthusiasm and support, as well as the City of Ottawa’s Bike Rodeo team, who always bring expertise, safety, and fun in equal measure.

This past month also saw continued work from our Transportation, Infrastructure & Planning (TIP) Committee, whose volunteers quietly put in hours behind the scenes to track neighbourhood issues, meet with partners, and advocate for improvements that keep Crystal Beach–Lakeview safe, connected, and forward‑looking. Their work isn’t always visible, but it is essential.

With summer now in full swing, the CBLCA will be taking our usual break from formal programming and newsletters. We’ll be back in touch in September, refreshed and ready for a new season of community events and initiatives.

In the meantime, I wish you and your families a happy and safe Canada Day, and a wonderful summer spent outdoors in our parks, on our bikes, and around our neighbourhood.

And if you’re planning to enjoy the annual Canada Day block party/fireworks hosted by the Reid family and friends the details are below:
