Yes, it’s short notice but now that we’ve learned there are no longer capacity limits on outdoor rinks, we’ve decided to go ahead with our community outdoor curling bonspiel at Lakeview Park, on Saturday, February 19, 2022 (Mon. Feb. 21 in case of inclement weather). Inclement weather will be called if the daytime weather forecast calls for either above zero temperatures, more than 5 cm of snowfall or a wind chill factor of -20C.
This year’s event will again be used as an opportunity to raise funds for a good cause and at the same time, enjoy one of Canada’s most popular sporting activities outdoors with friends and neighbours.
The cost will be $20/person and $15 of the registration fee will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Ottawa) . The remaining $5 will be used to provide hot dogs, soft drinks, and other snacks. Payment can be made by interact transfer, cheque or cash. No previous curling experience is required. Push sticks are available and can be used in a similar manner as shuffle board in Florida. You can register individually, or as a foursome. Those who register individually will be placed on a team. Each game will last 4 ends (45 minutes) and every team will play a minimum of 2 games.
Important Note: Due to the nature of this event taking place on a glossy ice surface, participants are strongly advised to wear helmets (ski/snowboard, hockey or bicycle). If you are interested in participating, please register by no later than 6 pm on Thursday, Feb. 17. Start times and a schedule will be released shortly thereafter.
For further information and to register, please contact Betty or Al Arseneault at aag@rogers.com or by telephone at 613 851 1294.
