Crystal Beach Lakeview is surrounded by green space. It defines our community and provides value and quality of life to this special place we call home. Consider supporting the organization that supports that green space.
The Ottawa Carleton Wildlife Centre (OCWC) recently shared their newsletter with us: https://www.wildlifeinfo.ca/uploads/6/5/8/0/65805765/ocwc_newsletter_fall_2023.pdf
In their cover email, the OCWC said, “The newsletter highlights the important advances the Centre is making for wildlife – connecting a new generation of young people with nature; working with residents to protect habitat and wildlife in their neighbourhoods; providing people with the tools to resolve wildlife conflicts humanely; joining with other environmental and community organizations to challenge practices that harm wildlife while providing innovative and sustainable alternatives; partnering with government agencies and others to develop progressive policies that promote coexistence.
Bringing together a variety of interests increases the ability to collectively promote habitat and biodiversity and the ecological services provided as effective nature-based solutions to fighting climate change.
What has been accomplished on the Carling Campus, with the help of your community, in restoring a significant urban Wetland Complex, all based on wildlife-sensitive planning, will stand as a ‘best practices’ model. It will, undoubtedly, serve to raise the bar and encourage as well as create pressure for other such projects, particularly given the cost savings.
We have also been extremely active in advocating for a modern Wildlife Strategy in Ottawa and will be urging that the recommendations outlined on pages 4 and 5 of the Newsletter are adopted.
We remain committed to fighting for a more harmonious relationship with other species, this will not only save their lives but also enhance ours. We would be most grateful if you considered making a donation to support this work:
