Lease signed for 1 Corkstown Road

In case you didn’t see it on Facebook or in the Bay Ward Bulletin, issue  #2, January 12, 2024, page 3 the lease for 1 Corkstown Road has been signed and our new neighbours are expected to start arriving mid-February. Note that Councillor Kavanagh is arranging with the City for us be able to sign up for tours of the facility. Here’s a reprint of Councillor Kavanagh’s article.

Update regarding the acquisition of 1 Corkstown Road property

The City’s Housing Services, in collaboration with the Corporate Real Estate Office, have successfully finalized the lease agreement for 1 Corkstown Road for a 10-year term. The City is leasing this facility, previously used as a retirement home, to operate as a Transitional Housing facility for families who are experiencing homelessness. In the coming weeks, City and facility staff will be working on preparing the site for operations. They will continue to work with various stakeholders to ensure that this site is used effectively for the community and those accessing services. Staff are targeting to have residents start to move into the facility in mid-February. I am currently working with City staff to coordinate an opportunity for residents to sign up for at our of the facility prior to the official opening so that residents can see the set up and what is being offered. Please stay tuned for more details as I will be sure to share these in one of our upcoming newsletters.
