    About that Lakeview Ditch Study…

In 2020, the community association asked the City for help with ditches overflowing on some properties in Lakeview. With the spring melt about to start, you may be wondering what became of that request.

In the spring of 2023, a company called “Robinson Consultants Inc. Consulting Engineers” produced a report of their study of ditches in both Lakeview and City View (another neighbourhood with problems). In the fall, Theresa Kavanagh’s staff told us, “City staff have stated that Lakeview is currently being reviewed before going to Construction Services. They think design will start in the new year and are hoping for construction to go forward in 2025. We’ll be sure to reach out when we have more concrete information that can be shared as things continue to take shape.”

    So, that’s where we’re at.

Cut the bull rushes in the ditch at the corner of Horner Drive and Corkstown Road. I have lived at 66 Horner Drive pretty much all my like and these bull rushes are not native to this ditch. They have been planted by someone – I assume the person responsible for the maintenance of this ditch. They clog the water and make it impossible to clear the ditch

Thanks, Susan. We do all have a responsibility to clear out vegetation and make sure nothing impedes the flow of water in our own ditches.
