Tour of Corkstown Transitional Housing Facility, deadline to RSVP, Friday, February 2, 2024

Please see Councillor Theresa Kavanagh latest Bay Bulletin

Councillor Kavanagh: “I am happy to invite residents to a walk-through tour of the Corkstown Transitional Housing Facility for Families on Sunday, February 4, from 2 to 3 pm.”

The City of Ottawa is working hard to get the centre up and running so that families can start moving in as soon as February 8. The new centre will not be completely functional in time for the walk through, however, I am happy that we will have a chance to visit some of the spaces and answer any questions residents might have about the new space, the families it will be supporting and the services available to them.

If you would like to attend please RSVP by sending an email to bayward@ottawa.ca with the subject line “Tour” no later than Friday February 2.

I think it’s inexcusable that the decision to locate in this facility was taken behind closed doors with no transparency, without any consultation with the surrounding community so that our concerns could be addressed, and not announced as a fait accompli. How much thought was taken into account by you and your fellow decision makers behind those closed doors as how this facility would impact the immediate neighbourhood? Any? Likely none.

I’m beyond upset. You have lost my support all confidence I had in you as my Counsellor to make sound decisions for the community in which I live.

      RSVP Friday 4th tour:
Our grandson, Scott Metcalfe, worked at the residence in the kitchen. Washed dishes. I’d love to see what’s happening with the place now.
