Community Safety: Working Together as Good Neighbours

There’s been a lot of recent conversation on the CBLCA Facebook group about safety and mischief activity in our neighbourhood. These discussions reflect the deep care we all have for our community—and it’s important that we continue to support one another in a spirit of respect and cooperation.

As neighbours, we each bring different perspectives and lived experiences. It’s important to avoid dismissing someone’s concerns, just as it’s equally important to avoid jumping to conclusions or escalating situations unnecessarily. We encourage everyone to respond thoughtfully, assume good intentions, and help foster a climate of supportive vigilance—not fear or blame.

If you do notice something concerning, please reach out to the Ottawa Police Service using the appropriate contact:

    • Emergency: 9-1-1
    • Non-emergency: 613-236-1222 ext. 7300
    • Online reporting: ottawapolice.ca/report

We also encourage residents to explore Neighbourhood Watch Ottawa and consider participating in the city’s new Security Camera Registry Program, which helps law enforcement investigate incidents with greater efficiency. You can learn more here:

In the background, we’ve reached out to our community police liaison officers and are working to schedule a community safety information session. We’ll share details as soon as they’re confirmed.

Let’s keep looking out for each other—because safety grows stronger when we work together as good neighbours.
