We still need many volunteers for Wheel Day 2019. Please consider helping out for a few hours on Sunday June 2nd at Corkstown Park.
Specifically, we need volunteers of all ages for:
- Bike parade Leaders, 10:15am-11:30am
Lead the group ride through the neighbourhood route. One leader at the front, 1-2 throughout the group, and one at the rear.
(The route is already planned. You just need to ride your bike wearing a safety vest along the route) - Bike parade traffic managers, 10:15am-11:30am
Direct cyclists and (limited) traffic along the parade route. Volunteers will be wearing a safety vest and assigned a corner along the route. Meet at Corkstown Park for brief orientation, then to be stationed at assigned locations. - Bike Rodeo – Bike Safety Educators, 1pm-3pm
Help kids navigate the mini Main Street using proper rules of the road and bike hand signals. Orientation provided when arrive on site.
(This is a super simple and fun job. The City of Ottawa staff give you a 10min orientation and you make sure the kids don’t run over each other and cheer them on along the track) - Set-up, 8:30am-10:30am
Site set up – tables, chairs, tents, signage. May involve transporting supplies to Corkstown Park. - Take-down, 2:30-4:30pm
Clean up Corkstown Park. Take down tents, tables and remove all garbage and recycling. May involve transporting supplies back to Maki House and/or residents’ homes.
Please connect with Krystal Taylor at kltaylor22@yahoo.ca or 613-791-1089 by May 20th. Some activities will need to be cancelled if we can’t secure enough volunteers.
