It’s not the Winter Carnival we wanted but maybe it’s the one we need! CBLCA’s Parks and Recreation team, led by Amanda Firby, has been working hard to come up with a COVID-safe way for us to celebrate winter. Given all the uncertainties of these strange times, this has been a tall task. After some spirited discussion, we came up with a few things we all have in common: we have snow, we have cameras, and we all like prizes and cake!

The 2021 Winter Carnival will take place from Tuesday, January 26until Sunday, January 31. Take a look at the following events and select those that interest you and your family.

There will be prizes too! Thanks to our sponsor Patti Brown from the Susan Chell team with RE/MAX Realty.

You’ll notice that our two great community ice rinks are not a part of this year’s Winter Carnival. This is due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings. But the rinks are still open to use as per the standing rules, so go out and enjoy them – responsibly!

In the days to cone, be on the lookout for reminders and updates on the community FaceBook page and Instagram. For most of the events, you can start as soon as you finish this line….

Schedule of events

Join us for six days of winter fun! Follow us on Instagram or visit the Facebook event page for contests and virtual events. Important, remember to use the hashtag #crystalbeachlakeview for all your submissions so we can find them.

Scavenger Hunt

Tuesday, Jan 26th

FIVE OWLS can be found in each of the five Crystal Beach Lakeview zones. How many can you find? As you prowl the neighbourhood over the next few days, look out for our “owls of winter.” Take a picture and find the others! The Owls will hopefully “land” Sunday, at worst Monday – unpredictable beasts

There are two prizes for your efforts:

  • First household to find all five (or the family that finds the most)
  • Found at least three? Your household will be entered into a draw for a prize.

Email your owl pics to cblcaparksandrec@gmail.com by Sunday, January 31 to be entered into the contest. Prizes are $20 Canadian Tire gift cards.

Thanks to Crystal Beach resident and RE/MAX Hallmark Realty Group Sales Representative Patti Brown @pattibrown19 for sponsoring prizes for this event. #susanchellteam
