The community has spoken! We had a fantastic survey response rate of 325 people–thank you! Due to time sensitivity, at the executive meeting last night (September 20) we focused on your preferences for the Cash in Lieu funds to be allocated toward capital expenditure at parks in our neighbourhood.
The clear winner was for a basketball court at Maki and an improved court with an additional net at Lakeview. It is fitting that this ranked as your first choice, given comments we received from you about the need for recreation facilities for older kids, teens and adults, as well as making improvements both to Maki and Lakeview parks.
We have communicated this choice with Mark Taylor, whose staff is looking into the details to set these projects in motion before December 1st, when his term as City Councillor ends. We will share updates with you here, and via CBLCA’s newsletter (click here to subscribe), as they become available. In the meantime, please submit any questions in the comments below and we will be happy to provide you with more info.
As a community, your feedback and suggestions on a number other topics covered in the survey were both insightful and inspiring. We’re looking forward to sharing the full results and having a more fulsome discussion at the next community meeting, once the full survey analysis is complete. For the next few weeks, the executive will be working at full capacity on an all-candidates municipal debate to be held on October 11th at the Nepean Sailing Club. Stay tuned for details later this weekend!
