Greetings Crystal Beach Lakeview! CBLCA had its first executive meeting since the Annual General Meeting on November 4. In that time, we also found two new members.
Joining the executive as Vice President is Suzanne Boisvenu. Suzanne has lived in the community for the last five years, but she had her eye on Crystal Beach Lakeview for long before that. Suzanne has been an active resident by attending the last couple of AGMs and participating in community clean ups. We look forward to benefitting from her energy and fresh perspective. Also joining the executive as Zone 4 rep is Merv Sullivan. Merv is a long-time resident of Crystal Beach —in fact, more than 50 years! Merv has a long history of civic engagement in the City of Nepean as a councillor for six years and chair of the Nepean Public Library, to name just a few of his contributions to civic life. Merv will bring to the executive considerable experience and wisdom.
The CBLCA is still looking for a Communications Chair, ideally someone who is social media savvy and enjoys wordsmithing. This would be a great resume builder for any college or university student out there. If you’re interested, please send me a note to discuss the position (presidentCBLCA@gmail.com).
As a general shout out, if you would like to give back to the community either by joining the executive or volunteering for one of our events or on a sub-committee, please send us an email. Tell us about your interests and we will reach out when we need the extra help. Many hands make light lifting!
Lastly, CBLCA is covering the cost of temporary storage at Maki House so that the rink maintenance volunteers can store equipment over the winter; next year, the City of Ottawa plans to build a permanent storage facility. We are lucky to have two rinks in our community — I hope to see you on the ice at some point!
Lastly On Behalf of the CBLCA – Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
