The Crystal Beach – Lakeview Community Association is having it’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on November 23rd, 7:00- 8:30. This year we’re returning to an in-person event, which will be held at the Nepean Sailing Club located off Carling. We hope to see you there!
The CBLCA executive is an unpaid group of volunteers that look out for the interests of the community. It was the CBLCA that initiated the Lakeview Ditch review, met with the City and Developers about developments in the area, continue to keep a keen eye on the LRT construction and had the ice rink bunker painted. We continued to organize the booking of Maki House for all those activities, we support our youth sports program in the summer, and we held the Winter Carnival and Wheel Day events for the community.
The CBLCA Election
Here is a list of the Official positions in the Executive, and the current person in that role and their intentions for next year. All positions are open for residents of Crystal Beach – Lakeview to run for, so if you see a role you would like, the incumbent maybe happy to try a different role. The Past President is not an electable position, as their role is to help the new president transition into that role. If you have any interest in any of these roles please reach out to me with any questions (CBLCApresident@gmail.com).
Why Join?
For myself, I joined the CBLCA because I believe in civic engagement and I wanted to help support the community I’ve chosen to raise my family in. I’ve volunteered for a number of organizations and I believe that volunteering can be very rewarding. Being a part of the CBLCA Executive has allowed me to meet people from all over the neighbourhood and make a few friends. I have a better appreciation of municipal affairs and the work of many individuals that holds cities / communities together.
The AGM is an important yearly event for the CBLCA. It allows us to get much needed feedback from the community. It allows you to vote for the new and returning members of the executive and legitimizes the association. If you like what we do; come out and support us, if you don’t like what we do come out and tell us!
