Spring is here! And the last meeting of the CBLCA Executive reflected the energy that comes with this new season. Plans for a community meeting, ideas for events for kids, families and all of us for later this spring and summer, a look at how we can be organized to reach more of you and involve you in this great community, and a discussion about transit issues, including pedestrian and cyclist safety – all of that and more filled our 2-hour meeting.
A wonderful event took place on March 25th when our refugee support committee invited the whole community to meet Amoun and her daughters Marah and Aya, along with her brother Basel. Lots of conversation, good food, neighbours meeting neighbours, and a very warm welcome to Amoun and family. CBLCA is so grateful for the leadership the refugee support committee has shown, and to all who have generously stepped up to make Ottawa a wonderful home for our new friends.
A community meeting might not be quite as much fun as a welcome party, but it will be just as interesting and important. Please read all about it below, and join us at Maki House on April 12th at 7 p.m., or join us live on Facebook.
