February 2021 Updates From Your CBLCA

Greetings Crystal Beach – Lakeview. We hope everyone is enjoying the pleasant winter weather! Here are a few updates from your community association.

Recently, a rumour circulated that Corkstown Road would transition to one-way traffic with the construction of the LRT2 station at Moodie. This is a false rumour: city officials recently confirmed that Corkstown Road will continue to carry two-way traffic.

Fresh from the Muppet labs at the CBLCA: If indeed March Break takes its usual form and is not affected by the pandemic, the CBLCA is looking into arranging for some DIY March Break activities, possibly with prizes! Ideas floating around include: window decorating, snow art, and scavenger hunt. We would like your input: go to the main page of the website and answer the poll on whether you think this is a worthwhile endeavour. And if you any ideas for socially-distanced community activities during March Break, please send them to: cblcaparksandrec@gmail.com.

The CBLCA is always looking for ways to save money, especially with the financial effect of the pandemic. We have changed website hosts and are now using www.rebel.com (no relation to the controversial Rebel News site). The CBLCA website (a keen observer would note) looks the same but only costs about $5 a month for hosting. We will also let our Survey Monkey subscription lapse when it expires in late April. This is code for: expect one good survey before then!

Lastly, we are looking for a new Zone 2 Rep (Lakeview area). Al Arsenault also maintains Lakeview rink and is unable to devote the time to both causes. We thank Al for his input to the CBLCA and his dedication to the community rink he so diligently runs. If you would like to step forward and serve as Zone 2 Rep, please send me a note for more information: CBLCApresident@gmail.com
