Our initial plans to host the curling bonspiel on Sat. Feb. 19 have been thwarted, due to the incoming thaw/rain/snow/flash freeze event. However, the long range forecast looks promising and we’re hopeful we can move the event to the following weekend.
This bonspiel provides and opportunity to raise funds for a good cause and at the same time, enjoy one of Canada’s most popular sporting activities outdoors with friends and neighbours.

The cost will be $20/person and $15 of the registration fee will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Ottawa). The remaining $5 will be used to provide hot dogs, soft drinks, and other snacks. Payment can be made by interac transfer, cheque or cash. No previous curling experience is required. Push sticks are available for new curlers. You can register individually, or as a foursome.
Curling gets underway at 10 am and each game will last 4 ends (45 minutes). Every team will play a minimum of 2 games. The semi-final and final games will take place at 1:20 and 2:10 respectively.
Important Note: Due to the nature of this event taking place on a glossy ice surface, participants are strongly advised to wear helmets (ski/snowboard, hockey or bicycle). If you are interested in participating, please register by no later than 5 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 23. In order to maximize the funds raised for the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Ottawa), we want to try and fill all 16 available team spaces. Once the community has been given the opportunity to participate, invitations will go out to the general public, to try and fill any remaining spaces.
Start times and a schedule will be released either Thursday or Friday. For further information and to register, please contact Betty or Al Arseneault at aag@rogers.com.
