This weekly afternoon gathering for retirees, sponsored by CBLCA, has been going since 2015.
Meeting at Maki House, Friendship Club has offered conversations on interesting topics, speakers and presentations, and social events for various holidays. Sometimes the group has gone to an exhibition; other times they have discussed a book or heard about someone’s travels, and occasionally they have had a facilitated conversation about a timely community or city-wide issue. The possibilities are endless, and are determined by the group itself.
Presently coordinated by Judy Leeson, assisted by a few volunteers, it has operated virtually during COVID. The time has come to check with the community about interest in its continuation.
It is also time to recruit a new Coordinator. The Coordinator’s role is to work with others to develop and implement programs, including publicity, ensuring room at Maki House is set up, and keeping in touch with CBLCA so they can help with promotion and information. This role is perfect for an outgoing, organized person looking for a rewarding volunteer experience in our local community.
