Let’s try this again. The previous wave of the pandemic put a halt to the Cleaning the Capital event. On the upside, there will be more trash to pick up! Don’t laugh — in the past, we had a (happy) problem filling all our bags.
We plan to do this on Saturday, October 2, with Sunday, October 3 the rain day.
I will use an email list from last time to contact people who expressed an interest in participating to see if they are still want to join the clean-up posse. If you want to participate but forget if you signed up last time — or want to sign up for the first time! — send an email to GeneralCBLCA@gmail.com with “Cleaning the Capital” in the subject line. Include the number of people in your party and prepare to stretch out those garbage-grabbing hands.
Rest assured, it will be COVID friendly, outdoors, and in small bubble groups.
By way of background, the Cleaning the Capital campaign is not-for-profit initiative administered by the City of Ottawa and that relies on sponsors such as 1-800-GOT-JUNK. Cleaning the Capital is a way for residents to foster community pride by cleaning up their parks, bus stops, woodlots, ravines, shorelines, and pathways, while enjoying the outdoors.
