Hi Everyone,
It seems to me that there’s always a lot happening in Ottawa broadly speaking and in our community of Crystal Beach Lakeview specifically. As a volunteer based association I’ve heard from different members that it can sometimes feel a little overwhelming. What to focus on? Where to put our precious donation of time, to make the biggest impact for those around us?
Some current initiatives include our upcoming wheel day, youth sports, and ongoing activities at Maki house; engaging with OC Transpo on improving services to our community, providing feedback/input on new proposed bylaws, regulations and legislation, etc; maintaining communication to the community (website, meeting minutes, newsletter), and authorizing expenditures to groups providing support or services to our community. All of this work is completed by members of our community on a volunteer basis and wouldn’t be possible without the contribution of our executive/board members.
That said, one of our current executive members is sadly going to be leaving the board due to a work deployment to another part of our country. I’d like to thank our current Vice President, Ryan Stanley, for his contributions over the past year and willingness to lend a hand with winter carnival, wheel day, and financial authorizations! Thank you, and I know I speak for all of us wishing you and your family all the best on the next steps in your journey.
On that note, the CBLCA has an immediate need for a new Vice President. While the role is less well defined than some others, it serves a critical function on the board as a backup to the president and a financial authority (counter signing cheques) for the CBLCA accounts. The position is ripe for anyone that wants to get involved without too much commitment or someone that wants to get involved while defining their own contribution. Please reach out if you’re interested and we can invite you to the next executive meeting to learn more!
Sincerely,
Nicolas Martinez
President CBLCA
