CBLCA is offering a mindfulness meditation program during April and May at Maki House on Thursday nights.
The classes will run from 8:00 pm to 8:45 pm. Each class will comprise three parts:
- a brief talk about meditation and mindfulness
- a guided meditation (10-15 minutes)
- questions/answers and discussion
The instructor is Peter Black, a long-time resident of Crystal Beach. He has practiced mindfulness meditation for 20 years and taught a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction course for 5 years.
Meditation is a type of training to help us be more mindful during each day. When we meditate, we find a quiet spot, adopt a strong but relaxed posture, perhaps close our eyes, and focus our attention on an object (for example, the physical sensation of breathing). When we notice any thoughts that occur, we let them go and return our attention to the chosen object. We practice paying attention rather getting lost in thought. This training helps us pay attention during our daily life.
Mindfulness allows us to live more fully, effectively and joyfully.
The fee is $10 per class, payable in advance or on a drop-in basis. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
