Kate Twiss – About CBLCA’s Chair of the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Planning Committee (TIP)
In 1975, when I moved to Bayshore after university, I didn’t know the first thing about local politics. I’m sure I didn’t know what ward I lived in or, for that matter, what a ward was. Six years later we bought a house in Lakeview and my community advocacy began with requesting cycling and walking access along the realigned Acres Road. (Some things don’t change—CBL is still trying to get to Bells Corners!) This community has been so good to me, and it helped me raise my daughter. In turn, I want to help CBL tackle the challenges that always seem to keep coming at this lovely place. Working on the TIP has given me a way to transition to retirement from a 30-year career as a technical writer. I can use the skills I enjoyed in my job. I like learning stuff and working with a team; being on the TIP is my idea of a good time.
