Update on pedestrian and cyclist safety campaign

Thank you to all residents that participated in our email campaign to Councilor Taylor to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists on Corkstown Road and Moodie Drive. Over 185 emails have been sent to Councilor Taylor by community members to express concern about: 1) the need for lighting, sidewalk and potential speed reducing measures on Corkstown Road from Crystal Beach Drive to the Moodie Station; and 2) the need for improvement of the 417/Moodie overpass for pedestrians and cyclists. Councilor Taylor has acknowledged his receipt of these emails. We will continue the dialogue with the City for improved pedestrian and cyclist safety and connectivity in our neighbourhood.

In addition, we have had response from the City to our suggestions for the improvement of the Holly Acres/Transitway intersection. We will be meeting with the BRT team members on April 30 to further discuss the needs for this intersection and the finishing work to be completed this spring.

The notes from the April community meeting on sidewalks, bike paths and roads in four priority areas along the BRT are now available online.
