Spring sure hasn’t been all that good to Ottawa so far: cold, wind, rain, and floods. As I write this, it is clear that many of our fellow Ottawa citizens will be struggling with the continuing havoc wreaked by the floods for some time to come. I know many of you have been volunteering to help our neighbours in Britannia, in Crystal Bay, and elsewhere in the region.
The situation is changing from day to day. Please check these link on the City’s website to find out the most up-to-date information on where volunteers are currently needed:
Speaking of stepping up, there are several ways for you to get active in our community over the next few weeks. Read about the spring cleanup planned for this Saturday, May 4th, and tree planting on May 9th. And about the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge and Wheel Day on June 2nd. These are great activities for the whole family.
Thanks to all of you who came out in person or on Facebook Live for the LRT2 meeting. Over 600 people participated in one way or another, some on Facebook, others in the overflow crowd at the Nepean Sailing Club. There is no question that the LRT team from the City heard our messages and will do some more homework, and that we will keep in touch with them and with you as developments occur.
In the meantime, it will get warmer soon!
