All are welcome to join in Tuesday afternoon programming at Maki House
May 7th, 1:30 p.m. “Saying goodbye to a Great City: Memoirs of Nepean Councillor Merv Sullivan.” Merv recalls his time as our local representative before Nepean amalgamated with Ottawa in 2001. The forward-thinking members of this city council created many of the fine facilities we use today. Everyone welcome!
May 14th, 1:30 p.m. Coffee and Conversation
May 21st, 12:30 p.m. Visit to the Mill of Kintail near Almonte. Restored in 1830, this was the home and studio of physician and sculptor R. Tait Mckenzie. The mill now houses a gallery of Canadian artwork from the 1930s, as well as exhibits about James Naismith, who invented basketball. Stroll the Riverside trail or explore one of the short forest loops. The spring wildflowers should be at their peak (we also recommend bringing insect repellent just in case). Tea in Almonte after. Meet at Maki House at 12:30 p.m.
May 28th, 1:30 p.m. Ice Cream Sundae Social. Join us for the last meeting of the year and enjoy dessert and tea outdoors in the sunshine at the Maki picnic tables.
