CBLCA is looking forward to another productive year working with the city, for our community. In conjunction with various community members and committees, we are actively working on files such as the drainage issues in Lakeview, the LRT2 extension and protecting our local environment. We are analyzing the community vision feedback you provided at our November meeting and via last month’s online survey. We will share the findings for further discussion, likely at a community meeting in the coming months.
With the help of the local Scouts, we are also looking forward to our annual Winter Carnival on Sunday, January 26th, complete with a traditional horse-drawn sleigh, outdoor games, a canteen, and a few new indoor attractions. This year, we will even have an outdoor fire to warm our hands! And don’t forget to check out the Annual Crystal Beach Lakeview Outdoor Curling Bonspiel on Saturday, January 25th. Stay tuned for details on both of these “winter wonderland weekend” events!
Starting this year, CBLCA is piloting a new approach whereby every resident is a de facto member of the community association, without paying an annual fee. For funding, we will rely instead on resident contributions, sponsorships from local businesses and a new activity fee structure for Maki House users.
These funds are vital so we can maintain this website, support community initiatives, conduct surveys, hold community events like Wheel Day and the Winter Carnival, as well as community meetings.
We also encourage you to come forward with new ideas and resident-led, CBLCA-supported initiatives like the Spring Clean Up. If you have an idea, just reach out to us at GeneralCBLCA@gmail.com to start the conversation!
Looking forward to seeing you at the Winter Carnival!
